Little Victories in a latte

Golden latte with artful swirl of milk on top, yellow over a black background in a dotted mug with a hand on the handle

I’ve been on a lovely Real Life Retreat, but this golden milk latte was too pretty to keep to myself. I mean, just look at her. 💛👀

Pressed pause on some things and pressed PLAY on others. I have been taking really good care of myself recently. It takes time and effort, but woman oh woman, it’s worth it. 10/10 would recommend. 👌✨

How’s things? Hope you’re out there loving yourself well, too. — You take time and effort. And you’re worth it.

I published this post on Instagram after a three-month, very necessary break. I lived a lot of life, I thought new thoughts, felt a truly enormous number of feelings.

And I got clear on a couple of things.

Instagram’s algorithms don’t allow for rest — But I do. Instagram’s algorithms worship all-or-nothing. But I don’t.

So, I’m dethroning Instagram.

I’m dethroning Instagram. I do still believe in sharing golden milk latte moments, pressing pause and pressing play, and switching out she/her pronouns for cultural male-gender-normative turns of phrase. And it felt SO GOOD to connect again with a community of friends that I miss when I don’t auto-thumb to that shiny rainbow button. I just can’t make my work there anymore.

It matters that I make my meaningful work. It matters that I make my work and own it. And it matters that my platform is congruent with my values — Not a hustle and grind, myth-of-perfectionism perpetuation machine, cough cough…

The all-or-nothing myth turned out to be a nothing-or-nothing reality for me. So now, I’m here (Hello, you gorgeous new-again website complete with blog, you!) in praise of a little something. ✨

And y’all, a little something is huge.
